Anchorages in Gothenburg & West Coast
Skagerrak Exposure — Sweden's Most Dynamic West Coast
The Gothenburg coast faces the Skagerrak — significantly more exposed than Baltic Sweden. SW-W swells from the North Sea reach the coast during and after depressions. Tidal range 0.2–0.4m (greater than Baltic). Ferry traffic is heavy in Gothenburg approaches — keep clear of separation schemes. The 8,000-island archipelago offers sheltered anchorages inside. Allemansrätten gives the constitutional right to anchor freely throughout Swedish waters.
