70m for 3–5m on sand — good holding but very exposed bay. This anchorage demands a settled forecast with no SW/W wind forecast for at least 24 hours. Set alarm to 65m minimum. Halmstad harbour gästhamn is the preferred overnight option; anchor only in the approaches as a fair-weather stop.

About This Anchorage

Halmstad is the largest city on the Halland coast — a university city with a medieval castle, excellent restaurants, and the broad sandy beaches of Laholm Bay extending both north and south. The city sits at the mouth of the Nissan River, which flows from the forested interior through the coastal plain. The anchorage in the approaches is exposed to the dominant SW-W winds and is used primarily as a daytime stop or in very settled conditions. The harbour gästhamn inside is protected and well-equipped — most visiting sailors prefer to berth there rather than anchor off.
