2. Information We Collect

2.1 Location Data

The App requires access to your device's GPS location services to function. We collect and process the following location-related data:

Current device position — used to monitor your boat's location relative to the anchor point
Anchor position coordinates — the GPS coordinates you set when dropping anchor
Saved anchor points — locations you choose to save for future reference

Important: All location data is stored locally on your device only. We do not transmit, upload, or store your location data on any external servers.

2.2 Background Location Access

The App uses background location access (“Always Allow”) to continue monitoring your anchor position when the App is not actively on screen or when your device is locked. This is essential for the core safety function of the App — alerting you if your anchor drags while you are sleeping or away from your device.

Background location tracking is only active when you have explicitly started an anchor alarm session. It stops immediately when you stop the alarm or weigh anchor.

2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

We want to be clear about what we do not collect:

We do not collect personal identification information (name, email, phone number)
We do not require account creation or registration
We do not collect payment or financial information
We do not track your browsing activity
We do not collect device identifiers for advertising
We do not use cookies or similar tracking technologies
We do not collect or access your contacts, photos, or other personal files

3. How We Use Your Information

Location data collected by the App is used solely to:

Monitor your boat's position relative to the set anchor point
Calculate the distance between your boat and the anchor position
Trigger an alarm if the distance exceeds your defined safe radius
Display your position on the in-app map
Save anchor points for your personal anchorage library (if you choose to save them)

4. Data Storage and Security

Local storage only: All data is stored on your device using standard iOS data storage mechanisms.
No cloud sync: Your data is not synced to any cloud service or external server.
No third-party access: Your location data is not shared with, sold to, or accessed by any third parties.
Data deletion: All App data is permanently deleted when you uninstall the App from your device. You can also delete individual anchor points within the App at any time.

5. Third-Party Services

5.1 Apple Maps

The App uses Apple Maps to display map views. When you use the map feature, Apple's own privacy policy applies to the map data. Please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy for details on how Apple handles map-related data.

5.2 No Analytics or Advertising SDKs

The App does not include any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. We do not use services such as Google Analytics, Facebook SDK, or any similar tools.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. The App is designed for adult sailors and boaters.

7. Your Rights

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over your data at all times:

Access: All your data is visible within the App
Deletion: Delete individual anchor points or uninstall the App to remove all data
Location permissions: You can revoke location access at any time through iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Since we do not collect or transmit personal data to external servers, most GDPR provisions regarding data processing by controllers are not applicable.
