About This Anchorage

Świnoujście is the principal entry port for Baltic Poland — a major ferry terminal serving Unity Line (Trelleborg, Sweden) and Polferries (Copenhagen, Ystad) and the de facto gateway to the Szczecin Lagoon and Oder River delta cruising area. The town is unusual in that the main settlement sits on Usedom Island (geographically part of the German island but administratively Polish). The Świna strait — one of three connections between the Baltic and Szczecin Lagoon — carries heavy commercial and ferry traffic with currents up to 3 kt. For yachts entering from the Baltic, this is the first real shelter and the start of hundreds of kilometres of protected inner-water sailing through the lagoon, river channels, and Oder delta. The marina facilities are good — fuel, water, restaurants, and provisioning all available.
