About This Anchorage

The southern shore of Wolin Island faces the Szczecin Lagoon and offers some of the finest anchorages in the inner lagoon system. Wolin National Park covers the majority of the island — the forests are a refuge for European bison (żubr), red deer, mouflon, and diverse birdlife. The chalk cliffs on the northern (Baltic) face of the island contrast with the sheltered lagoon shore. The anchorages along the south shore provide excellent shelter in northerly conditions with good holding in soft lagoon mud. The very low salinity of the lagoon (~2‰) means virtually freshwater — a completely different ecological environment from the open Baltic.
