About This Anchorage

Stepnica is a small village on the southern shore of the Szczecin Lagoon — a peaceful, unhurried destination away from the main tourist routes. The small harbour serves local fishing boats and a modest number of visiting yachts. The surroundings are farmland and forest with good walking and cycling routes. The lagoon from this southern shore has a different character — flat, reed-edged, and intensely rural. The very low salinity (~2‰) of the lagoon water means an almost freshwater environment with corresponding birdlife — pike perch and bream instead of cod, freshwater birds instead of seabirds. An authentic slice of Polish rural life on the lagoon.
