Anchorages on the Tunisia North Coast
Sirocco (Chili) & Port of Entry Formalities
Tunisia is a non-EU country — Q flag and full clearance at an official port of entry (Bizerte, La Goulette, Tabarka) are mandatory before going ashore anywhere. The Sirocco (locally called Chili) is a hot, dry, dusty Saharan wind from the S/SE that can reach gale force in July and August. It arrives faster than weather models predict — always build a 6-hour safety buffer into departure plans from Cap Bon. The tidal range along the north coast is small (0.1–0.3m) and can be disregarded for anchoring depth planning.
