About This Anchorage
Lake Jamno (Jezioro Jamno) is a coastal lagoon separated from the Baltic by a narrow sand barrier on which the resort town of Mielno sits. Access from the Baltic is via a small canal through Mielno — extremely shallow (draught limit approximately 1.2m) but leading into a perfectly sheltered lagoon. The lagoon is a nature reserve with excellent birdwatching — cormorants, herons, and numerous waders frequent the reed beds. Mielno itself is a small Baltic resort with excellent beaches on the sand barrier. This anchorage provides perfect shelter in any weather and is ideal for shoal-draught yachts wanting to escape the exposed Baltic coast.
