About This Anchorage

Brighton Beach is a north Bridgetown suburb on the Spring Garden Highway coast — the anchorage here is a roadstead rather than a proper sheltered bay. It is primarily useful as a temporary waiting position for vessels approaching from the north before entering Carlisle Bay, or as an overflow anchorage when Carlisle Bay is at capacity during major ARC season influxes. The protection is limited — the east and southeast are sheltered by the island but the northern and western quadrants are exposed. Brighton Beach itself is a quiet local beach popular with Barbadian families. The proximity to the Carenage makes it convenient for customs runs. Proceed south into Carlisle Bay for a secure overnight position.
