Barbados — South & East Coast

Anchorages in Barbados South & East Coast

Oistins Friday Night Fish Fry, Silver Sands windsurfing, and the south coast bays — plus emergency reference entries for the Atlantic windward east coast. South coast is more exposed than the west; east coast (Bathsheba, Consett Bay, Bottom Bay) is NOT suitable for anchoring in normal conditions.

CRITICAL WARNING: East Coast NOT Anchorable in Normal Conditions

The Atlantic windward east coast of Barbados — Bathsheba, Tent Bay, Consett Bay, Bottom Bay, and Harrismith Bay — receives the full fetch of the North Atlantic trade wind swell directly. Even in “calm” periods, 1–3m swell arrives continuously. These entries are included for emergency reference and local knowledge documentation only. Visit the east coast by rental car from Bridgetown (30–45 minutes) — not by sea. South coast bays (Oistins, Miami Beach, Silver Sands, Foul Bay) are manageable in settled conditions but require south swell monitoring before overnight stays.

Set Your Anchor Alarm Before You Sleep

On the south coast, south swell can build quickly and drag an anchor toward the beach. Safety Anchor Alarm monitors your GPS position continuously — so you can enjoy the Oistins Fish Fry without worrying about your boat.
