About This Anchorage

Consett Bay is a small east coast cove on Barbados's windward shore — one of the few bays on this coast where local fishermen occasionally shelter their boats. The high inland hills of the Scotland District cast a partial wind shadow that slightly reduces the trade wind chop compared to more exposed east coast locations. However, the Atlantic swell rolling in from the open ocean creates consistently rough conditions unsuitable for visiting yacht anchoring. The reef passages on the approach require intimate local knowledge. The surrounding coastal scenery is rugged and spectacular — the Scotland District of Barbados is the island's most dramatic geological region, formed by a completely different geological process than the rest of the island. Explore by land via the east coast highway.
