About This Anchorage
Port Elizabeth is the main town on Bequia and the organisational heart of the Grenadines sailing circuit — the customs office, main provisioning shops, restaurants, bars, chandleries, and ferry dock are all lined up along the waterfront. Anchoring directly off Port Elizabeth puts everything within easy dinghy reach. The customs and immigration office is open during business hours for SVG entry clearance. Doris Fresh Food is the best supermarket, with Maranne's Ice Cream Parlour and the historic Frangipani Hotel bar providing the perfect post-clearance refreshment. Bequia's waterfront has an authentically Caribbean atmosphere — wooden schooners at anchor, fishing pirogues racing out to the reef, local workers carrying crates of provisions — combined with the international sailing scene of arriving and departing yachts. This is the essential Bequia experience.
