About This Anchorage

Perisor lies on the outer barrier beach where the Danube Delta begins to dominate the coastline — the landscape transitions from the bare steppe of the central Black Sea coast to the reed-fringed, sand-dune coast characteristic of the outer delta. The beach here is long, wild, and completely undeveloped — part of the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve's outer protective zone. The area sits between the Razim lagoon system to the south and the outer delta islands to the north, giving it a transitional character between two very different landscapes. Access by sea provides a perspective unavailable to land-based visitors — the scale of the delta coastline, stretching for dozens of kilometres without a single building or road, becomes apparent only from a few miles offshore. The Danube freshwater plume affects water colour in this area, and dolphins are frequently observed.
