About This Anchorage
Năvodari lies 15km north of Constanța, a town that combines a significant petrochemical and industrial zone (housing one of Romania's largest oil refineries) with a beach resort area that attracts domestic tourists. For visiting sailors, the bay north of the industrial zone offers a convenient overnight stop on the passage between Constanța and the northern Danube Delta coast, with reasonable holding on a sandy bottom. The town's character reflects the industrial history of Romania's Black Sea coast — a landscape of refinery towers, storage tanks, and beach parasols existing in close proximity. Lake Taşaul (Corbu), the large coastal lake behind the barrier beach north of the town, is a bird-rich freshwater lake accessible by dinghy through its narrow connecting channels. The anchorage is purely functional — provisioning stop rather than a destination — but the bird lake behind offers a worthwhile explore for naturalists.
