About This Anchorage
Eforie Nord is a classic Romanian riviera resort town on the central Black Sea coast, nestled between the open sea and the remarkable Lake Techirghiol — a hypersaline therapeutic lake whose dark mud has been used for medicinal treatments since the 19th century. The lake's salinity (around 70–80g/L, twice that of the Black Sea) gives it extraordinary buoyancy and the iconic black sulphurous mud is still applied at the historic treatment sanatoriums. The beach anchorage off Eforie Nord provides a convenient overnight stop in settled conditions, with the resort town offering basic provisioning and restaurants. The contrast between the blue-green Black Sea and the dark brown therapeutic lake just behind the dunes makes this a visually striking location along the Romanian coast.
