About This Anchorage
Gdynia is one of Europe's great 20th-century planned cities — built almost entirely between the wars (1920s–1930s) after Poland gained access to the sea through the Polish Corridor. The Modernist and Art Deco architecture of the city centre is outstanding and largely intact. Gdynia became Poland's main commercial and naval port, a role it still fulfils today. The outer roads anchorage lies north of the port entrance and serves as a waiting position. The Museum Ship ORP Błyskawica (WWII destroyer, survived the Blitz) and the sailing ship Dar Pomorza are moored in the port basin as museum ships. The Gdynia Sailing Club (OKS Kotwica) and Gdynia Marina are close by.
