About This Anchorage
Kaadedhdhoo is an island in South Huvadhu Atoll (Gaafu Dhaalu) that serves as the location of the local airport — a small domestic airstrip connecting the southern atolls to Malé by charter and domestic aircraft. The anchorage off the island provides moderate protection in the NE monsoon season in good sand. This is a transit anchorage rather than a destination — useful for crews making the long passage through the southern Maldives. The surrounding waters have rarely-visited reefs that local fishermen regard as exceptional. The island community is small and traditional.
