Anchorages in North Iceland
Midnight sun, whale-watching traffic, and 60km fjord approaches
North Iceland at 65–66°N has continuous daylight from 10 June to 2 July — crew must manage sleep discipline deliberately. Akureyri sits at the end of a 60km approach up Eyjafjörður — a magnificent passage but requires a full day and careful timing of the marked channel. Húsavík hosts Iceland's most active whale-watching fleet — maintain 300m from all cetaceans and give commercial vessels absolute right of way. Katabatic gusts in all fjords from plateau drainage — midnight conditions can be dramatically different from the afternoon forecast.
