Anchorages in the Mecklenburg Bight & Bodden Coast
Open Mecklenburg Bight — monitor VHF in commercial ports; Hanse Sail (August) fills Warnemünde
The Mecklenburg Bight is the most open part of the German Baltic — Baltic swell builds in NW–N winds. VHF 12 mandatory at Warnemünde/Rostock (cruise ships, ferries), VHF 11 at Travemünde (Finnlines/TT-Line ferries to Scandinavia). Hanse Sail (August): 300+ traditional sailing vessels make Warnemünde extremely congested — book berths months ahead. The Trave river to Lübeck (12nm) is one of the great inland passage experiences in Germany.

Set Your Anchor Alarm Before You Sleep
In the Mecklenburg Bight, Baltic swell and wind-driven water level changes mean overnight anchor monitoring is essential — especially on open coast anchorages.
