About This Anchorage
The outer Flensburg Fjord (Flensburger Förde) is where the German and Danish coasts converge — the border runs through the middle of the fjord, with Germany to the south and Denmark to the north. This anchorage near the border gives access to both national coasts within a short dinghy ride, and the view across to the Danish city of Sønderborg (famous for the 1864 Battle of Dybbøl, the defining moment in German-Danish history) makes for a historically charged overnight stop. Within the EU/Schengen area, no customs formalities are required for crossing the border in a yacht. The outer fjord is broader and more exposed than the upper reaches near Flensburg city.
