About This Anchorage

Beli Bryag ('White Shore') is a scenic coastal cove between Varna and Balchik, named for the distinctive white limestone and chalk cliffs that characterise this section of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. The cove is a practical halfway stop on the coastal passage northward from Varna toward Balchik and Kaliakra Cape, providing a lunch stop or short overnight rest in settled conditions. The white cliffs here are geologically similar to those of Kaliakra further north — the same Sarmatian limestone that forms the dramatic headlands of northeastern Bulgaria. The coastline is largely undeveloped and quiet, with access to small clifftop paths leading to village above. The water clarity in settled conditions is excellent for swimming.
