Anchorages on the Belgian Coast
4–5m tidal range — calculate scope for high-water depth
All depths are given at chart datum (LAT). The Belgian North Sea coast has a tidal range of 4–5m at springs — add the full tidal height to calculate actual depth and scope requirements. Tidal streams run 2–3 kt parallel to the coast. Offshore sandbanks (Wenduinebank, Stroombank) shift seasonally — always use current charts and follow buoyed channels precisely. All lock-gated marinas should be contacted on VHF 9 before entry. Zeebrugge: mandatory VHF 71 call to Port Control.
