Anchorages in Barbados West Coast (Platinum Coast)
Calm, flat water in the lee of the island — Paynes Bay's hawksbill sea turtles, Sandy Lane's legendary beach, Holetown's first English settlement (1627), Mullins Beach, and the protected Folkestone Marine Park reef (mooring buoys only). Best sailing conditions in Barbados.
Clear customs at Bridgetown first — Folkestone Marine Park: NO ANCHORING
All west coast anchorages require customs clearance at Bridgetown Port Authority (Carenage) before anchoring — west coast bays are NOT ports of entry. Folkestone Marine Park (Holetown): NO ANCHORING inside park boundaries — designated mooring buoys only (contact rangers VHF 16). No anchoring on coral or sea grass throughout west coast. Turtle protection at Paynes Bay — no touching or chasing sea turtles (Barbadian law).
