Finike Marina Anchorage Guide

Also known as: Finike Limanı, Finike Port, Marina Finike

Finike is a large, well-protected marina and town on Turkey's Lycian/Pamphylian coast transition zone, offering full marina services, excellent provisioning, and all-weather shelter. The harbour is enclosed by breakwaters that provide protection from all directions. Finike is the primary base port for cruisers exploring both the Kekova area to the west and the Antalya Gulf to the east. It is the premier long-stay winter base for liveaboards on this section of coast, with good infrastructure and a welcoming cruising community.

The Anchorage

Full-service marina with all-weather protection. Mud and sand bottom outside the marina is excellent for anchoring. Inside marina: stern-to berths with electricity, water, Wi-Fi. Harbourmaster on VHF Ch 16. DEKPA checks conducted here.

Setting Your Anchor

The bottom at Finike Marina is primarily mud and sand with reliable holding when properly set. Use the following approach:

  1. Approach slowly and check your depth sounder on the way in. At 36m, deploy at minimum 7:1 scope (42m chain at 6m depth).
  2. Drop into the wind or current and pay out chain steadily as the boat drifts back — do not allow chain to pile on the anchor.
  3. Set firmly in reverse. Apply moderate throttle astern for 30–60 seconds. The chain should tighten without the boat moving backwards.
  4. Take a GPS bearing. Note your position once set and compare to the scope calculator to confirm you have adequate chain for the depth.

Recommended anchor types for this bottom: Rocna, Delta, Mantus. See our guide to anchor types by bottom for detailed comparisons.

  3. Antalya (70nm E) and Kaş (22nm W) are both accessible day passages from Finike
  4. Provisioning here is excellent — stock up before heading to the less-served Kekova and Lycian coast anchorages
  5. Annual winter layup: many liveaboards winter here — good facilities for boat maintenance

A note on this guide: The data in this guide has been researched from multiple sailing sources and is provided in good faith. Anchorage conditions — including depth, holding, and local regulations — can change. Before visiting, always check current weather forecasts, NAVTEX and VHF weather bulletins, and consult your up-to-date charts. Use a GPS anchor alarm and never rely solely on a guide for navigational decisions.

Sleep peacefully at Finike Marina
