About This Anchorage

Pigeon Point is Tobago's most photographed location — the iconic thatched-roof wooden pier extending over crystal-clear turquoise water backed by coconut palms is the quintessential Caribbean postcard image. The Heritage Park beach is managed and charges a small entrance fee (TTD 30/person). The anchorage north of the point is scenic but significantly exposed — suitable as a day stop to enjoy the beach but not recommended for overnight stays unless conditions are completely flat and settled. The sand bottom provides good holding when the anchor is well set. Shallow reef patches extend from the point — approach from north with care using chart and visual inspection. Facilities ashore include a bar, water sports equipment, and the famous pier walk.

Skipper's Tips

  • Pigeon Point is one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean — worth the day stop even if overnight is impractical
  • The view from the thatched pier at sunset is extraordinary — plan to be anchored or ashore at this time
  • Approach from north in clear water — reef patches are visible with good light and a lookout on the bow
  • Use Store Bay (1nm south) for overnight — dinghy to Pigeon Point for the beach experience
  • Kayaking from Pigeon Point into the Bon Accord Lagoon (sheltered lagoon to the east) is excellent in calm conditions
