About This Anchorage

L'Anse Fourmi is a small bay on Tobago's northernmost coast — geographically at the transition point between the Caribbean and Atlantic sides of the island. The French colonial name (fourmi = ant) reflects Tobago's complex colonial history (the island changed hands 22 times between European powers). The bay is sheltered from the south but exposed to northerly and northwesterly swells — suitable for settled conditions. A tiny fishing village with virtually no tourist presence. The surrounding area is part of the Main Ridge Forest Reserve. One of the most remote and rarely visited anchorages on the Tobago circuit, requiring some tolerance for Atlantic conditions.
