About This Anchorage

Simrishamn is the main town of the Österlen district — the southeast tip of Sweden and one of its most scenic coastal areas. The Österlen coast is known for its rolling countryside, traditional windmills, art studios (many artists are drawn to the exceptional light here), and the distinctive mustard-yellow sandstone church towers. The town has a charming old quarter, a good harbour with facilities for visiting yachts, and excellent restaurants focused on local Österlen produce (asparagus in spring, summer berries, and smoked herring). Simrishamn marks the corner of Sweden — south of here, the coast curves west into the Öresund approaches toward Malmö and Copenhagen.
