60m on sand/mud in 2–4m. Klintehamn's position on Gotland's west coast means any westerly wind brings unimpeded Baltic fetch. This anchorage is viable in E or SE conditions (when Gotland's west coast is sheltered) and is the principal departure point for Stora Karlsö visits.
About This Anchorage
Klintehamn is the main harbour on Gotland's west coast between Visby (30km north) and the island's south coast. It serves as the mainland for Stora Karlsö island visits — tour boats depart from Klintehamn to the world-famous razorbill colony on the offshore bird reserve. The harbour has a functional gästhamn, fuel, provisions, and is a more relaxed alternative to the crowded Visby when doing a west-coast Gotland circumnavigation. The surrounding landscape is classic Gotland: limestone plateau farmland, raukar formations on the shore, and the distinctive dry-stone walls. Klintehamn is an important waypoint for sailors circumnavigating Gotland — the alternating east and west coast anchorages make it a natural staging stop.

- →The raukar formations on the shore north of the harbour are worth exploring by dinghy
- →Good fuel stop mid-circumnavigation of Gotland
