About This Anchorage

Questelles Bay is a quiet west coast anchorage between Kingstown and the more dramatic bays of Cumberland and Wallilabou. The village of Questelles is a traditional Vincentian farming and fishing community — arrowroot cultivation and fishing are the local occupations. The bay is used primarily as a transit stop by sailors working their way north up the west coast. It offers reasonable shelter from the NE trades and good holding in sand and mud, though the westerly exposure means swell can enter in unsettled conditions. The west coast of St. Vincent between Kingstown and Cumberland Bay is one of the most scenically striking passages in the Eastern Caribbean — the mountainous, heavily forested volcanic interior rises steeply from the shore, with waterfalls visible on the hillsides after rain. Questelles makes a comfortable lunch hook on this passage.
