Setting Your Anchor
- Check tidal height for tidal locations (Hoek van Holland, Scheveningen, Biesbosch); Grevelingenmeer and Veerse Meer are non-tidal
- Plan arrival at HW for tidal locations; non-tidal lakes can be entered at any time
- In Rotterdam waterways: monitor VHF CH 67 and stay in designated small craft areas at all times
- Set your anchor alarm immediately after anchoring — before going below or sleeping
About This Anchorage
Kamperland (population 1,800) is on the western end of Noord-Beveland island on the Veerse Meer — positioned closest to the sea entrance at the Veerse Gatdam. The harbour has a fuel dock (making it the primary fuel stop for the lake), a well-organised marina, and easy access to the beaches on the south shore. Kamperland is a popular watersports centre — the adjacent Veerse Meer is excellent for sailing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, and stand-up paddleboarding. The western lake has wider water and more consistent SW sea breezes than the sheltered inner Meer. From Kamperland, Middelburg (the Zeeland capital) is 8km by bicycle — a classic Dutch route through polder landscape.

Skipper's Tips
- →Kamperland is the fuel dock for the Veerse Meer — fill up here before heading east to Kortgene and Veere

- →Cycle to Middelburg (8km, well-marked cycle path) for the historic city centre, the abbey (Abdij), and the weekly market (Thursday)
- →The Veerse Meer water sports scene is excellent to watch — the consistent SW sea breeze in summer is ideal for windsurfers; the lake is a training base for Dutch Olympic sailors
- →Plan the full Veerse Meer circuit: Kamperland → Kortgene → Veere (2 days minimum) — one of the finest short sailing circuits in the Netherlands
