About This Anchorage
Anse à Boeuf is a small, quiet bay on the eastern coast of the Trois-Îlets peninsula — tucked away from the main charter traffic of Anse Mitan and Point du Bout, yet close enough to access their facilities by dinghy. The bay is modest in scale, with a sandy bottom providing reliable holding and good protection from the dominant NE trade winds. The surrounding coast here is less developed than the main Trois-Îlets tourist strip, with a more residential character that appeals to cruisers seeking a quieter base. The village of Trois-Îlets — with its pottery museum, golf course, and the childhood home of Empress Joséphine (consort of Napoléon Bonaparte, born here in 1763) — is easily accessible by dinghy. The anchorage serves well as an overflow from the busy Anse Mitan when peak season crowds make that bay uncomfortably full.
