About This Anchorage

Lhohifushi island in the northwest quadrant of North Malé Atoll provides a pleasant anchorage in a sheltered lagoon setting. The surrounding reef creates natural protection from NE trade winds and swell, making this one of the more comfortable overnight anchorages in the northern part of the atoll. The island was formerly a resort and some infrastructure remains, though the anchorage area is clear of private facilities. The surrounding reef offers good snorkelling and the atoll lagoon waters are spectacular in NE monsoon calm. A worthwhile stop between Malé and the more remote northern atolls.
