About This Anchorage

Korppoo (Swedish: Korpo) is a substantial inhabited island in the inner Turku Archipelago, connected to the mainland by the famous archipelago ferry road — one of Finland's most scenic driving routes across the island chain. The Galtby harbour serves the ferry connection and has visiting yacht facilities including a guest quay and basic services. The island itself is larger and more varied than the outer skerries — pine and birch forest, granite outcrops, small farms, and a Swedish-speaking community that has maintained island traditions for centuries. The anchorage in Galtby bay provides excellent shelter and convenient access to the village. A good stopping point on the inner archipelago route between Turku and the more remote outer islands.
