The Anchorage

Modern full-service marina with enclosed basin — all-weather protection from all directions. 600 berths designed for yachts to superyachts. Maximum draft approximately 5m. Finger pontoons with shoreside connections: water, electricity (220V/380V), wi-fi. Modern amenities include showers, laundry, security, restaurant, and chandlery. Port of entry for Cyprus — customs and immigration available (pre-book for out-of-hours arrival). VHF Ch 16. Opened 2021 — the newest and most modern marina in Cyprus. Popular base for east coast cruising. 30m alarm radius for enclosed marina berth. The surrounding Agia Napa resort area offers extensive restaurants, nightlife, and provisioning.

Setting Your Anchor

The bottom at Agia Napa Marina is primarily sand and mud with reliable holding when properly set.

  1. Verify Cape Greco MPA boundaries before anchoring — if within the Natura 2000 core zone, use the yellow mooring buoys provided. Anchoring is strictly prohibited in the MPA core area (€500+ fines).
  2. Check for Posidonia seagrass — snorkel to verify a sand patch before dropping anchor. EU-protected; fines apply for damage.
  3. Anchor in 2.55m. Cyprus tidal range is negligible (<30cm). Deploy 25m chain at 5m depth (5:1 scope).
  4. Set firmly in reverse — 30–60 seconds at moderate throttle. Use the scope calculator to confirm adequate chain.

Recommended anchor types: Rocna, Mantus, Spade.

Overnight Anchoring & Anchor Alarm

Overnight stays at Agia Napa Marina are excellent — the enclosed marina provides complete all-weather protection. The primary overnight hazard on the southeast coast is easterly swell from the open Levantine Basin (Lebanon/Israel direction) — develops rapidly in E/NE winds. The Limassol–Beirut ferry route passes SE of Cape Greco — maintain a watch on VHF Ch 16 and keep clear of commercial traffic at night.

Set your GPS anchor alarm to 30m radius before going below. 30m radius for enclosed marina berth. All-weather protection. Pre-book berth May–September as marina fills quickly in peak season. VHF Ch 16 on approach.

Open year-round. Peak June–September — pre-book essential. Off-season is quieter and excellent value; October–May offers uncrowded marina and quick access to Cape Greco in fine weather.

Navigation Hazards

  • Peak season June–September — berths fill quickly; pre-book in advance
  • Draft limit approximately 5m — confirm berth depth with marina before arrival for deep-keel vessels
  • Out-of-hours customs arrival requires pre-arrangement

Rules & Regulations

  • EU member (not Schengen): Cyprus is an EU member state but NOT part of the Schengen Area. Passport controls apply to all nationalities. Non-EU boats must clear customs at Larnaca Marina (24/7) or Agia Napa Marina before anchoring in Cyprus waters.
  • Anchoring prohibited (MPA): Pre-book in peak season (June–September). Draft limit approximately 5m — confirm with marina office before arrival. VHF Ch 16 on approach. Use mooring buoys provided by Dept. of Fisheries. Fines €500+.

A note on this guide: Data has been researched from multiple sailing sources and is provided in good faith. Conditions — depth, holding, regulations — can change. Always check forecasts and current official charts before visiting. Use a GPS anchor alarm and never rely solely on a guide for navigational decisions.

Sleep peacefully at Agia Napa Marina

Safety Anchor Alarm monitors your GPS position continuously — essential at Cape Greco where MPA boundary compliance requires precise GPS tracking, and where easterly swell from the Levantine Sea can develop overnight without warning.
