Vinogradišće Anchorage Guide
Also known as: Uvala Vinogradišće, Vinogradisce Pakleni, Sv. Klement SW
Vinogradišće ('the vineyard place') is Palmižana's quieter neighbour — a beautiful, pine-shaded cove on the SW coast of Sv. Klement in the Paklinski Islands. Mooring buoys are available in season (fewer in number than Palmižana). Sandy patches allow limited anchoring where Posidonia is absent. The setting is classic Dalmatia — limestone rocks, pine trees, turquoise water — with a fraction of Palmižana's crowds. A small seasonal restaurant operates from the rocks. Water taxi to Hvar town available.

Vinogradišće is the quieter alternative to Palmižana — one bay further W on Sv. Klement. Mooring buoys are available (fewer than Palmižana). Sandy patches amid Posidonia allow limited anchoring — snorkel to verify before dropping hook. Better atmosphere than the congested Palmižana in peak season. Good holding on sandy spots.
Setting Your Anchor
The bottom at Vinogradišće is primarily sand and posidonia.
- Approach slowly — deploy at minimum 7:1 scope (56m chain at 8m depth).
- Drop into wind or current and pay out chain steadily.
- Set firmly in reverse for 30–60 seconds.
- Snorkel to verify — confirm no Posidonia. Fines up to €2,000 for anchoring on Posidonia in Croatia.
Recommended anchor types: Rocna, Mantus, Spade.
